Android Inc. was started by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White in California in 2003. Although Android is now a smart phone operating system, the initial idea of the founders was to create a new system for DIGITAL CAMERAS.
However, as the market for such a task was not profitable as they expected, they turn their ideas to smart phones. Their dreams started to fade as they had to face financial problems. It paved the way for Google to buy the company on 17th August 2005. Rubin, Miner and White stayed in the company after that and contributed to the development of Android. However, the work of developing Android inside Google was carried out secretly and that arouse the curiosity of different media.
                       On 5th of November 2007 a mobile device platform based on Linux kernel version 2.6 was introduced as the first product of Android. Approximately a year after that, on 22nd October 2008, the first commercially available phone which ran Android was introduced. Its name was HTC Dream. Since then, Android devices showed a rapid increase in the world. According to surveys, by the end of the second quarter of 2012, the smart phone market of Android was 64% and it has grown to 79% at the end of the second quarter of this year. It is not a miracle for why Android has such popularity. Convenience in using and creativity are the magnets for the success of Android system.
